Water Safety Is Autism Safety.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn skills that build confidence around water. Spectrum Swim helps make individualized swimming instruction more accessible to autistic children and their families.

Four Scholarships. A Community of Families Who Need More.

More than 25 children applied for the first Spectrum Swim scholarship opportunity. Thanks to support from Tiny Swimmers, Caiden's Corner awarded four scholarships covering half the cost of swim lessons. The first round has concluded, and we're working to secure additional funding so more families can participate.

Why it matters

Swimming Lessons Are More Than a Summer Activity.

For families navigating autism, water can present serious safety concerns. Swimming instruction can support water awareness, confidence, and important self-rescue skills. Lessons are one part of water safety and do not replace close adult supervision, secure barriers, or other drowning-prevention precautions.

Water confidence

Helping children feel more comfortable entering and moving through water.

Individualized instruction

Supporting lessons that adapt to each child's learning and sensory needs.

Greater access

Reducing financial barriers that can keep families from enrolling in swim lessons.

What families reported

Progress Beyond the Pool

Three scholarship families completed follow-up surveys. Each reported their child's water-safety rating improved, from 1 out of 5 before lessons to 4 or 5 afterward. All three said their child could float independently after lessons, compared with none before. All three also reported increased parental confidence and that the scholarship helped financially.

Parents described children becoming more comfortable with water on their faces, enjoying time in the pool, and showing greater confidence. Two parents also noted improvements during bath time.

“Spectrum Swim Scholarship gave me more confidence in my daughter’s ability to be safe around water. It also gave my daughter more independence and confidence around water.”

These are parent-reported outcomes from a small group, not independently tested swimming proficiency or proof that children are safe around water without supervision.

Our inaugural swim partner

In Partnership with Tiny Swimmers

Our first Spectrum Swim scholarship round was made possible through a partnership with Tiny Swimmers. Their generous contribution helped fund four half-paid scholarships, and their team provided individualized swim instruction focused on water confidence and safety skills. We are grateful for their role in launching this project. Partners for future scholarship rounds have not yet been confirmed.
